When you need to find a phone number or address where do you turn? Keep in mind what year it is. In the past, people would head straight for they yellow or white pages if they were searching for information. After all, this was the only option that was available. But with the advent of the internet, things have changed quite a bit. Now instead of searching for information in big, heavy phone books, you can simply go to an online directory and find everything that you need.
There are many reasons that using an online directory service is better than using one that is offline. Just a few of these benefits are listed below. Of course there are more, but these are the ones that are most common.
1. It is much easier to find information online as opposed to in the phone book. When you search online the only thing that you need to do is type in what you are looking for, and then let the search engine do the rest. But when you search in a phone book you have to flip through thousands of pages before you can find what you are looking for.
2. Online directories are updated much more often than phone books. A phone book can only be updated once a year or so. And even then you have to wait for it to arrive on your doorstep before you can ever use it. But the good thing with online directories is that they can be updated on a daily basis if need be. As things change, an online directory can keep up. In turn, this makes the information much more accurate in the long run.
3. Online directory services include both yellow and white pages in the same
area. This is not true for phone books. When using an online directory you can search for a residential listing one time, and then switch directly to finding a business. This sure beats having to switch back and forth between two different phone books.
4. Searching offline in phone can be quite bothersome. They can be heavy and awkward, and on top of all that the ink can get all over your hands. These are things that you never have to deal with when searching online.
These are just four of the benefits that you can experience by using an online directory as opposed to offline yellow and white pages. Some people may still like to use phone books, and there is nothing wrong with that. But as the industry continues to expand, the need for phone will become pretty much obsolete.
